Women around the world have embraced the
game of poker. Yet, surprisingly, no major event has ever
been created as a stand-alone with women as the centerpiece.
Up until now,
women's poker tournaments have been an 'also ran', an 'oh,
by the way', and in general, were relegated to time slots
that conflicted with the major events. Currently, the only
major poker event that highlights women is the World
Series of Poker® Ladies Championship. In 2009, the
World
Poker Tour® even canceled its Ladies Championship!
Since the number of women in poker is growing, not waning,
women are
major contenders in the poker arena and more top-notch women poker
players are surfacing each day.
It's time for a
change, and the US Ladies Poker Championship
is here to spearhead that movement. Women have earned first class treatment in
the poker world. The US Ladies Poker
Championship intends on becoming the premier
women's poker event of the year showcasing and featuring
women.
Either jump on for
the ride of your life, or stand back and wonder what
happened.
Hear us roar!
How will we feature these great women
players?
The US Ladies
Poker Championship, a division of Ladies International
Poker Series (LIPS), was developed for women who want to compete for larger prize pools
in major events that showcase women
poker players to the world.
Super satellite
tournaments held in land based poker rooms, poker leagues
and home games plus online poker sites will allow women to
qualify for this event. The championship event will take place in Las
Vegas on Labor Day weekend (Sept 3-5, 2010) where it will be
broadcast
LIVE on the Internet to millions. (This is an open buy-in event,
and players can enter the event directly without winning a
satellite.)
The US Ladies
Poker Championship is expected to exponentially
grow and become one of the most prestigious poker tournaments
in the world. Any women would be proud to own the title of
the best woman poker player in the United States!
